According to reports, the vehicle involved in the accident was carrying eight pilgrims and had begun its Char Dham pilgrimage on May 27. The Uttarakhand government has recommended a minimum 10-day itinerary for the yatra to ensure the safety of pilgrims and drivers navigating the challenging Himalayan terrain.
The schedule is designed to provide sufficient rest periods and reduce the risks associated with long-distance mountain travel.
However, officials noted that the group had completed their pilgrimage much faster than the recommended duration. After visiting Badrinath, the vehicle was reportedly on its return journey and reached the Devprayag area on the seventh day of travel. Preliminary assessments suggest that the effort to finish the pilgrimage ahead of schedule may have contributed to driver fatigue or increased travel-related risks.
The accident has once again highlighted the importance of following official travel guidelines during the Char Dham Yatra. Authorities have repeatedly advised pilgrims to avoid rushing the journey and to prioritize safety over tight schedules.
As rescue and investigation efforts continue, the tragedy serves as a reminder of the challenges posed by mountain roads and the need for careful planning during one of India’s most significant pilgrimages.
Pilgrims are encouraged to choose well-planned Char Dham Yatra packages with detailed itineraries and robust safety measures. For a safe, comfortable, and spiritually enriching pilgrimage experience, join Tirtha Yatra’s Char Dham Yatra and travel with confidence through the sacred Himalayan circuit.
