According to the Transport Department, vehicles will be allowed to operate only between 4:00 AM and 10:00 PM. Authorities have warned that strict penalties will be imposed on those violating the rules. Night travel has been restricted due to poor visibility, sharp turns, and frequent landslides in Uttarakhand’s mountainous regions.
Vehicle Restrictions and Safety Measures
To maintain safety standards, only technically fit vehicles will be permitted on the Char Dham routes. Vehicles longer than 4500 mm and wider than 2570 mm will not be allowed. Drivers must undergo medical fitness tests and route training, ensuring they are capable of handling difficult terrain.
Limited Bus Entry to Control Traffic
Officials have also decided to allow only a limited number of buses per day. This step will help reduce traffic congestion and improve the overall pilgrimage experience. Authorities aim to prevent overcrowding on narrow mountain roads.
Important Advisory for Pilgrims
Pilgrims planning the Char Dham Yatra 2026 are advised to follow all government guidelines, travel during permitted hours, and check official updates before starting their journey.
These new rules are expected to make the Char Dham pilgrimage safer, more organized, and hassle-free, enhancing the experience for thousands of devotees visiting Uttarakhand.
