The landslide occurred on a section of the track after continuous rain triggered the fall of rocks and debris. As a precautionary measure, battery-operated vehicle services were suspended to ensure the safety of pilgrims. Shrine authorities and emergency response teams promptly reached the affected area and began clearing debris.
Officials stated that devotees on foot can continue their pilgrimage, while those requiring assistance are being guided by security personnel and volunteers. Pilgrims have been advised to follow official instructions and avoid restricted sections until restoration work is completed.
The Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine Board is closely monitoring the situation and coordinating with disaster management agencies to restore normal services at the earliest. Authorities have assured that all necessary safety measures are in place and that the pilgrimage remains safe.
Meanwhile, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecast continued rainfall in parts of Jammu & Kashmir, prompting officials to remain on alert for possible weather-related disruptions.
