The first batch includes 32 men and 12 women, accompanied by liaison and medical officers. Pilgrims from multiple Indian states will undertake the sacred journey to Mount Kailash and Lake Mansarovar in Tibet after completing immigration and security formalities at the India–China border.
Organised by the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA), the pilgrimage is conducted via two routes—Nathu La Pass in Sikkim and Lipulekh Pass in Uttarakhand. The Government of India recently designated both border points as temporary immigration check posts to facilitate smoother travel for pilgrims.
Mount Kailash, revered as the abode of Lord Shiva, and Lake Mansarovar hold immense religious significance for Hindus, Buddhists, Jains, and followers of the Bon faith. The yatra, which resumed in 2025 after a five-year suspension, continues to attract thousands of devotees every year, making it one of the world’s most spiritually significant pilgrimages.
