The five-day festival, organised by the Sindhu Darshan Yatra Samiti, began with a grand Kalash Yatra, during which devotees carried holy water from sacred rivers across India and ceremonially offered it to the Sindhu River. The ritual symbolises national unity and India’s shared spiritual heritage.
The inaugural ceremony was attended by Ladakh Lieutenant Governor Vinai Kumar Saxena, Union Minister Nimuben Jayantibhai Bambhaniya, along with several saints and religious leaders. Speakers highlighted the importance of the event in promoting spiritual tourism in Ladakh, preserving India’s ancient traditions, and strengthening the vision of “One India, Shreshtha Bharat.”
With the launch of the first Sindhu Kumbh, the annual Sindhu Darshan Yatra is expected to attract more pilgrims and tourists in the coming years, further establishing Leh as a leading destination for pilgrimage, culture, and spiritual experiences.
