Sri Sanwariya Seth Temple is one of the most glorious and wealthiest temples in Rajasthan, renowned for its charming, black-colored Deity of Sri Sanwariya Seth Ji. This temple is also known as “Sri Dham of Mewar,” is located in the peaceful village of Mandphiya in the Chittorgarh district of Rajasthan, a state known for its vibrant culture, deserts, lavish palaces, and historic forts.

The divine Deity of Sanwariya Seth Ji is made of black stone. It is a Swayambhu Deity of Sri Sanwariya Seth Ji; it is not human-made but self-manifested.

The Deity is seen in the tribhanga posture, a classic pose with three classic bends.

The Deity is always adorned in grand attire, holding a flute.

In 1840, there was a local milkman named Bholaram Gurjar. Once, he dreamt of three divine Deities of Lord Sri Krishna, which was buried beneath the soil of Chhapar or Bagund village.

These three divine Deities were discovered upon excavations. All three were consecrated in different locations. One in Mandaphia, another at Bhadsoda, and the third remained at the original site Chhapar.

The Deity that was enshrined in Mandphiya got very popular in 2000’s. This is none other than Sanwariya Seth Ji. This place came to be known as Sanwariya Ji Dham. It draws devotees from Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, and Gujarat.

Sanwariya Seth Temple is an example of the Nagara style of architecture. It is constructed using pink stone, which is a hallmark of wonderful Rajasthani architecture.

Mandap or main hall of the temple features a richly decorated roof and floor. It is tiled in pink, yellow, and white. It has a series of intricately carved pillars.

The walls and ceilings display many fine carvings and motifs, which enhance both spiritual and visual grandeur.

Visiting this temple during the festive seasons like Janmashtami, Holi, Ekadashi, and Pounami nights is considered very auspicious.

Janmashtami: This day is celebrated as the birth of Lord Sri Krishna, which falls on the Asthami tithi of the Badrapada month. This place is filled with a great celebration spirit.

Annakoot: This is celebrated one day after Diwali. Different varieties of food are offered as a mark of gratitude.

Jaljhulani Ekadashi: Special bhog and darshan arrangements are made during this time. Also, 3 days mela is organized to celebrate the festival. On Dashami, Ekadashi, and Dwadashi melas are conducted.

The darshan timings of Sri Sanwariya Seth Temple are as follows:

Morning: 05:30 AM to 12:00 PM

Evening: 02:30 to 11:00 PM

By Railway: Chittaurgarh Junction railway station is the nearest railway station. It is located 40 km away from the temple. From here, a cab, or auto, or a shared jeep can be hired. Even bus facilities are available.
