Jagannath Temple, a key pilgrimage site, attracts millions of devotees annually. The need for better infrastructure becomes especially critical during the famous Rath Yatra, when the city sees a massive surge in visitors. The upcoming international airport is expected to ease travel for both domestic and global pilgrims.
According to officials, the Centre has reviewed the airport proposal, focusing on environmental clearances, technical feasibility, and land acquisition processes. Authorities have been directed to fast-track approvals and ensure timely execution of the project.
Once completed, the Sri Jagannath International Airport will offer direct international connectivity to Puri, making it easier for foreign tourists and devotees to visit. The project is also expected to generate employment, boost local businesses, and contribute to the overall economic growth of Odisha.
With strong coordination between the state and central governments, the airport project is being seen as a transformative step toward positioning Puri as a global hub for religious tourism. If implemented on schedule, it will mark a significant milestone in the region’s infrastructure and tourism development.
