According to local authorities, the deceased were on pilgrimage tours to the sacred Muktinath Temple and nearby areas such as Waragung Muktinath and Gharapjhong Rural Municipality. Officials stated that the victims experienced severe health complications associated with altitude sickness and later died while undergoing treatment at a provincial hospital in Jomsom.
