According to officials, the renovation work is being carried out under the supervision of the Archaeology Department to preserve the ancient architectural heritage of these famous Ganapati temples in Maharashtra. The Maharashtra government has sanctioned special funds for the restoration, structural conservation, and preservation of the historic temple complexes.
The Chinchwad Devasthan Trust has thanked the Maharashtra government for supporting the large-scale heritage conservation initiative aimed at protecting the spiritual and cultural legacy of the Ashtavinayak temples.
At present, restoration work is underway at the temples and surrounding premises in Morgaon, Theur, and Siddhatek. Authorities stated that the project includes traditional stone restoration techniques, conservation of the sanctum sanctorum, repair of assembly halls, and strengthening of old temple structures while maintaining the original architectural style.
The temporary closure is expected to impact devotees planning the Ashtavinayak Yatra in 2026. Pilgrims and Ganapati devotees are advised to plan their travel accordingly and check official temple updates before visiting.
The Ashtavinayak temples are among the most visited Hindu pilgrimage destinations in Maharashtra and attract lakhs of devotees every year seeking the blessings of Lord Ganesha.
