Aranmula Valla Sadya 2026: World’s Largest Vegetarian Feast Starts July 19

Organized by the Palliyoda Seva Sangham, the annual ritual is closely associated with the famed Aranmula Snake Boats (Palliyodams) and forms an integral part of the temple’s centuries-old traditions.

A Unique Temple Tradition

Valla Sadya is a grand ritual feast offered to the oarsmen of the sacred snake boats after they arrive at the temple through the Pampa River. As part of the ceremony, the boatmen sing the devotional Vanchipattu (traditional boat songs) before partaking in an elaborate vegetarian meal served on banana leaves.

The feast is renowned for serving over 60 traditional vegetarian dishes, making it one of the most elaborate temple feasts in India. According to tradition, every item served is considered sacred, and none of the dishes should be refused.

Devotees wishing to participate in the Valla Sadya can book entry passes through the Palliyoda Seva Sangham. The participation fee is approximately ₹300 per person, subject to the organizers’ guidelines.
