Teams of workers and officials are engaged in removing heavy snow accumulated along the route, despite challenging weather conditions. The Baltal route, known for being shorter but steeper compared to the Pahalgam route, requires intensive efforts every year before it can be opened to devotees.
According to initial indications, the official schedule for the Yatra will be announced soon. The Pratham Pujan, marking the ceremonial beginning of the pilgrimage, is expected to take place on June 29, 2026. The Yatra is likely to commence from July 3, 2026, although final dates will be confirmed by the authorities.
Meanwhile, preparations for mandatory medical screening are also underway. The medical registration and health check-ups for pilgrims are expected to begin next month, ensuring that devotees are fit to undertake the high-altitude trek.
The Amarnath Yatra holds immense spiritual importance for devotees of Lord Shiva and attracts lakhs of pilgrims every year. Authorities are focused on ensuring a safe, well-organized, and spiritually enriching pilgrimage experience.
