According to official sources, the proposed Lord Venkateswara Temple in Guwahati will be developed following traditional Agama Shastra principles and will reflect architectural elements similar to the iconic Tirumala temple. The project aims to cater to the growing number of devotees of Lord Venkateswara in Assam and the wider Northeast region, reducing the need for long-distance travel to Tirupati.
The Assam government’s decision is being viewed as a major step in promoting religious tourism and cultural integration in the region. Once completed, the temple complex is expected to include facilities such as a main sanctum, kalyana mandapam, accommodation for pilgrims, and other supporting infrastructure.
TTD officials have welcomed the land allotment and stated that preliminary planning and surveys will begin soon. The temple is also expected to generate local employment opportunities and boost the economy through increased pilgrimage tourism.
Religious leaders and devotees have expressed joy over the announcement, calling it a historic moment for Lord Venkateswara devotees in Northeast India. The Guwahati temple is poised to become a major spiritual landmark, strengthening cultural ties between Assam and Andhra Pradesh.
With this initiative, Assam joins several other states that have collaborated with TTD to establish Lord Venkateswara temples across India.
