New Bhasma Aarti Timings Announced
As per the revised schedule, the Mahakaleshwar Temple gates will open daily at 3:00 AM for devotees attending the sacred Bhasma Aarti. On Mondays, considered the most auspicious day for Lord Shiva worship during Shravan, the temple will open at 2:30 AM to accommodate the exceptionally high number of pilgrims.
The revised timings have been introduced to efficiently manage the massive footfall witnessed during Shravan, when lakhs of Shiva devotees visit the temple every day. Temple authorities have strengthened crowd management measures, streamlined entry procedures, and enhanced security arrangements to ensure devotees can participate in the early morning rituals without inconvenience.
About the Sacred Bhasma Aarti
The Bhasma Aarti is one of the most unique and revered rituals performed at the Mahakaleshwar Temple. Conducted before sunrise, the ritual involves offering sacred ash (bhasma) to Lord Mahakaleshwar, symbolizing the eternal nature of life and the triumph of spirituality over worldly attachments. The ritual attracts thousands of devotees and is considered one of the most significant Shiva worship ceremonies in India.
One of the 12 Sacred Jyotirlingas
Located in the ancient city of Ujjain, the Mahakaleshwar Temple is one of the 12 Jyotirlingas of Lord Shiva and is among the most important pilgrimage destinations in India. During Shravan, devotees from across the country undertake pilgrimages to seek the blessings of Lord Mahakaleshwar, making it one of the busiest temple seasons of the year.
Temple authorities have advised devotees attending the Bhasma Aarti to arrive well before the gate opening time, carry valid booking or entry documents where applicable, and follow all temple guidelines for a smooth and spiritually fulfilling darshan experience.
