As per traditional timings, the Pooram Nakshatra begins on April 26, 2026, at 8:27 PM and ends on April 27, 2026, at 9:18 PM, marking the peak celebration period.
Thrissur Pooram is renowned for its majestic elephant procession, where caparisoned elephants are adorned with golden nettipattam and vibrant ornaments. A major highlight is the Kudamattam, a colorful umbrella exchange between the teams of Paramekkavu Bhagavathy Temple and Thiruvambady Sri Krishna Temple.
Another key attraction is the Ilanjithara Melam, a powerful traditional percussion performance featuring hundreds of artists. The festival concludes with the spectacular Vedikettu (fireworks display), lighting up the night sky and drawing massive crowds.
More than a religious celebration, Thrissur Pooram reflects Kerala’s rich cultural heritage, unity, and artistic excellence, making it one of India’s most spectacular festivals.
