The Mahamagha Mahotsavam begins on January 19 and will conclude on January 30, marking the end of the 12-day sacred festival with final rituals and holy baths at Thirunavaya on the banks of the Bharathapuzha River.
The Mahamagha Mahotsavam will commence on January 19 with the Dharma Dhwajarohana, symbolising the beginning of sacred rituals. This will be followed by the Mahameru Rath Yatra, a grand chariot procession travelling from Tamil Nadu to the holy Trimurti Sangamam at Thirunavaya on the banks of the Bharathapuzha River.
Led by Acharya Yatheeshanandanathan Dr. Sreenath Karayatt, the yatra will see participation from several Adheenams of Tamil Nadu, reflecting spiritual unity. Rooted in the era of Cheraman Perumal and Valluvakonathiri rulers, the festival is linked to Lord Parashurama’s yajna, reaffirming Thirunavaya’s spiritual significance.
