During this time, all regular and special services, including Sparsha Darshanam and the celestial wedding of Sri Swami and Goddess Ammavaru, will be suspended. Sub-temples like Sakshi Ganapathi, Haatakeswaram, Paaladhara-Panchadhara, and Srikhareswaram will also remain closed. The temple will reopen at 5:00 am after purification rituals, with Alankara Darshanam and Mahamangalaharathi scheduled from 7:30 am. Online ticket holders for Sparsha and Virama Darshanam can enter from 2:15 pm to 4:00 pm.
Located in the scenic Nallamala Hills, the Srisailam temple is one of the twelve Jyotirlingas dedicated to Lord Shiva and holds immense religious significance. The temple will shut its doors from approximately 4:00 AM to 8:00 PM on the day of the eclipse. During this period, all poojas, darshans, and temple services will be suspended. The closure is intended to maintain the sanctity of the temple and allow for purification rituals once the eclipse concludes.
The announcement has prompted devotees to adjust their travel and pilgrimage plans. While some expressed disappointment at the temporary closure, many welcomed the decision, acknowledging the importance of preserving religious customs. Following this is both our faith and tradition,” remarked a devotee. “We respect the temple’s decision and will return after the eclipse.”
Following the reopening, temple authorities plan to conduct special purification ceremonies and poojas to restore spiritual harmony. These rituals are expected to draw large crowds, as devotees seek blessings in the aftermath of the celestial event.
This event underscores the enduring influence of astronomical phenomena on religious life in India. As modern society continues to evolve, the deep-rooted traditions surrounding temples like Srisailam remain a vital part of the cultural and spiritual fabric of the nation.
