The inspection is aimed at reviewing basic pilgrim facilities, security arrangements, and disaster management preparedness, which are crucial for the smooth conduct of the Char Dham Yatra 2026. Acting on the directions of the District Magistrate, the team is assessing the condition of the trekking path, alternative routes, bridges, slopes, and other vulnerable zones along the route.
Special attention is being given to landslide-prone areas and weather-sensitive locations to ensure the safety and convenience of pilgrims participating in the Char Dham Yatra.
During the inspection, officials are evaluating key amenities such as drinking water, toilets, medical facilities, electricity supply, communication networks, accommodation arrangements, and cleanliness. Facilities at shops, pony and mule stands, dandi-kandi (palanquin) counters, and registration centers along the Kedarnath route—an important stretch of the Char Dham Yatra—are also being reviewed.
The administration has instructed all concerned departments to prepare an immediate action plan to address any shortcomings identified during the inspection. The disaster management officer has been directed to remain on alert and ensure that sensitive locations are identified and necessary safety measures are put in place ahead of the Char Dham Yatra 2026.
Officials stated that all required steps will be taken well in advance to make the Kedarnath Dham Yatra, a key part of the Char Dham Yatra 2026, safe, well-organized, and pilgrim-friendly. The ongoing route inspection is considered a crucial step in strengthening preparations for the upcoming pilgrimage season.
