The proposed digital donation platform aims to simplify the process of offering contributions to Lord Jagannath. Through the E-Hundi facility, devotees will be able to donate using multiple payment options, including UPI, net banking, debit cards, and credit cards, without physically visiting the temple.
Millions of devotees visit the sacred Jagannath Temple every year, while countless others living abroad seek ways to contribute to temple activities. The E-Hundi system is expected to bridge this gap by providing a transparent and efficient online donation mechanism.
Officials believe the initiative will strengthen financial transparency and improve the management of temple funds. Donations collected through the platform will support temple rituals, maintenance, infrastructure development, and various pilgrim welfare programs.
Income Tax Benefits for Donors
One of the key highlights of the proposed system is that eligible devotees may be able to claim income tax benefits on their donations, subject to applicable government regulations. Officials believe the system will make it easier for devotees worldwide to support the temple through donations.
Digital Push for Temple Administration
The E-Hundi project is part of the Odisha Government’s broader efforts to modernize temple administration and enhance services for devotees through technology. Authorities have emphasized that while digital facilities will be introduced, the temple’s age-old traditions and religious practices will remain unchanged.
The announcement has generated excitement among devotees, who view the initiative as a convenient way to stay connected with Lord Jagannath and support the temple from anywhere in the world.
