The doors of world famed Badrinath Temple will close for the winter break from Monday, November 25, at 2:56 PM (IST), marking the formal conclusion of this year 2025’s Char Dham Yatra season in the Garhwal Himalayas.

Every year the muhurta of closing the temple doors is finalized on Vijayadashami Day by the Dharmadhikari of the temple, this year by Sri Swayamvar Semval ji, in the august presence of His Holiness – the Rawal ji of Sri Badrinath Temple and the devotees.
The customary rituals shall begin three days before the muhurta with closing of the temples of Lord Ganesha, Adi Kedarnath and Lakshmi Devi. With the closure, daily darshan at the hill shrine will pause until the reopening next spring, typically aligned with Akshaya Tritiya day. The muhurta of opening the temples in the year 2026 shall be decided on the Vasanta Panchami Day.
On November 25, after the necessary pujas are performed in the Garbha-griha, the temple shall be closed official by a traditional sealing of the sanctum doors at the muhurta of 2:56 PM. The responsibilities of the temple shall be handed over to the security personnel then.
The doli of Utsavar vigrahas – Sri Uddhav ji and Kubera ji along with Adi Shankaracharya will move to Pandukeshwar and Jyotirmutt respectively for the winter worship. As per the tradition, winter worship arrangements will continue at Pandukeshwar and Jyotirmutt, ensuring an unbroken cycle of devotion through the colder months.
The devotees of Lord Badrinarayana can plan their visit to the sacred Himalayan shrine to offer their prayers. However devotees must be prepared for the colder weather during those times.
