From September 11 to September 27, 2026, the special trains will operate on key routes to ease the pressure on regular passenger services and facilitate better crowd management during the festival. The additional services will provide enhanced connectivity between Mumbai, Pune, the Konkan region and Goa.
The services include 184 reserved trains connecting Mumbai and Pune with destinations such as Sawantwadi Road, Ratnagiri and Madgaon, along with 62 unreserved services operating between Diva and Khed.
Booking for the reserved special trains will open from August 1, 2026, through railway reservation counters and the IRCTC website. Detailed train timings and other information will be available on the National Train Enquiry System (NTES) website and the NTES app.
How to Make a Reservation
Reservations for the special trains will open in phases from August 1, 2026. Passengers can book tickets through railway reservation counters and online booking platforms. Unreserved tickets can be purchased through the UTS system.
Passengers can also check train schedules, stoppages and other details through the official railway enquiry services.
The additional services are expected to provide considerable relief to devotees travelling to their hometowns and pilgrimage destinations in the Konkan region during Ganesh Chaturthi.
246 Special Services Planned
According to Central Railway, the 246 special services comprise 184 mixed reserved specials equipped with AC, sleeper and general coaches, along with 62 unreserved MEMU special services. These trains will originate from major stations including Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus (CSMT), Lokmanya Tilak Terminus (LTT) and Pune.
