The 18 Padi Karuppasamy Sannidhi is opened only once a year, making this one of Tamil Nadu’s most unique temple traditions. After the special darshan and rituals on July 29, the sacred doors remain closed until the next Aadi Pournami.
Lord Karuppasamy, worshipped as the guardian deity (Kshetrapalaka) of the temple, is believed to bless devotees with protection, justice, and the removal of obstacles. The shrine is named after the 18 sacred steps (Pathinettampadi) leading to the sannidhi.
Special rituals, including Padi Pooja, Deeparadhanai, and Santhanam Saathuthal, will be performed during the annual opening. Temple authorities have made elaborate arrangements for crowd management and smooth darshan, ensuring a seamless experience for the expected influx of pilgrims.
