The project has been jointly developed by the Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine Board and the Shivkhori Shrine Board to improve pilgrimage connectivity and provide modern travel facilities for devotees. With the launch of this service, pilgrims can now reach Shivkhori from Katra in just 20 minutes, compared to the earlier road journey of nearly 2.5 to 3 hours.

Earlier, devotees traveling from Jammu or Katra to Shivkhori by road had to spend several hours on the journey. The newly introduced helicopter service now offers a faster and more comfortable option, especially benefiting senior citizens, differently-abled pilgrims, and families traveling with children.
Manoj Sinha Inaugurates Modern Helipad in Katra
Speaking during the inauguration ceremony, Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha stated that the project would significantly strengthen spiritual tourism in Jammu and Kashmir. He also confirmed that the helipad has been built according to DGCA safety standards using advanced aviation technology to ensure passenger safety and smooth operations.
Major Boost for Jammu and Kashmir Religious Tourism
Tourism experts believe the new Katra-Shivkhori helicopter ride will increase tourist footfall during major festivals such as Navratri and New Year celebrations. The helicopter connectivity is expected to enhance pilgrimage infrastructure across the scenic Trikuta Hills region and promote tourism in Jammu and Kashmir.
