Bahula Shakti Peetha, Bardhaman

Located on the serene banks of the river Ajay, it is one of the 51 Shakti Peethas, where the left arm (Bahu) of Sati Devi fell at Ketugram in West Bengal.

In this revered temple, Goddess Bahula Devi is the presiding deity, while Bhairuk, a form of Lord Shiva, is also worshipped here. The term “Bahula” signifies abundance, richness, and prosperity.

It is an important pilgrimage site that draws devotees from across different regions, offering them a place to seek spiritual upliftment, inner calm, divine strength, and prosperity.

Bahula Shakti Peetha is known for its simple yet elegant architecture. Constructed in traditional Bengali architecture, it features a large courtyard in front of the garbhagriha. The temple floor is constructed using red stone.

Unlike the grand garbhagriha in other temples, here the garbhagriha is designed in a modest style. The deity of Bahula Devi is carved from the stone and is placed in the center. She is accompanied by her sons Kartikeya and Ganesha. Standing before the goddess gives you an instant positive energy.

Shivaratri: This is an auspicious day dedicated to the worship of Lord Shiva, where devotees observe a strict fast and stay awake all night by chanting the divine Panchakshari Mantra “Om Namah Shivaya”.

Sarvamangala Temple: It is a revered temple dedicated to the worship of the goddess Sarvamangala, located in the Purba Bardhaman district.

Kankalitala Shakti Peetha: This temple is dedicated to Kankaleshwari Devi and is located in the Birbhum district of West Bengal. The temple is often visited along with Bahula Devi.

Phullara Devi Shakti Peetha: This is a famous shakti peetha located on the banks of the river Ishani. Also known as Attahas Shakti Peetha, the goddess Phullara is the presiding deity of the temple.
