Following the Paush Purnima snan on January 3, which saw participation of over 31 lakh devotees, authorities are preparing for an estimated turnout exceeding one crore pilgrims at the Prayagraj Sangam.
To manage the massive crowd, a comprehensive plan has been implemented: 12,100 feet of ghats equipped with changing rooms and toilets, 42 temporary parking zones for over one lakh vehicles, and bike taxis and golf carts to assist elderly and differently-abled pilgrims visiting Prayagraj Sangam.
Infrastructure and sanitation measures are in full swing, with 8,000 cusecs of water released from the Ganga Barrage to maintain river levels. Authorities are monitoring 81 drains to ensure water quality. 3,300 sanitation workers, 25,880 toilets, and 11,000 dustbins have been deployed to maintain a zero-discharge, open-defecation-free Prayagraj Sangam.
Security has been strengthened with 17 police zones, 42 outposts, paramilitary forces, 20 fire stations, 20 watchtowers, and control rooms. Over 8 km deep-water and 2 km riverside barricades, plus 400+ CCTV cameras, ensure crowd safety and regulated movement around the Prayagraj Sangam.
With preparations in full swing, the Magh Mela 2026 promises a safe, organized, and spiritually enriching experience for millions of devotees.
