Nine-Day Brahmotsavams Began at Tirumala

Tirumala, Andhra Pradesh – The much-awaited nine-day Brahmotsavams at the sacred Tirumala Venkateswara Temple began on September 24, 2025, marking one of the grandest religious festivals in India. The festivities formally commenced with the Dwajarohanam (flag hoisting) ritual, inviting devotees from across the country to participate in this spiritual extravaganza.

 

Grand Opening and Ritual Highlights

The festival opened with Dwajarohanam, during which the Garuda flag was hoisted atop the temple mast between 5:43 PM and 6:15 PM, signifying the start of the sacred event. Later in the evening, the first Vahanam procession—Pedda Sesha Vahanam—carried the processional deity, Malayappa Swamy, accompanied by his consorts Sridevi and Bhudevi, through the four mada streets.

Chief Minister Nara Chandrababu Naidu, along with Vice-President C.P. Radhakrishnan, attended the inaugural ceremonies. On behalf of the State Government, the CM presented Pattu Vastrams (silk robes) to Lord Venkateswara, upholding a deeply cherished tradition.

 

Festival Theme & Decorations

Tirumala is resplendent with thematic illuminations and floral decorations. Motifs depicting mythological scenes such as Garuda Vahanam, Sri Rama Pattabhishekam, and Lakshmi Narasimha Swaroopam light up the temple environs. Iron frameworks, LED displays, and artificial light arches enhance the visual grandeur along the four mada streets and at key points across the temple town.

 

Security, Logistics & Crowd Management

The Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD) has made elaborate arrangements to ensure a smooth and safe experience for devotees. Over 5,000 personnel, including state police, TTD security, and vigilance staff, have been deployed for crowd control, emergency response, and surveillance. Multiple CCTV cameras, crowd analytics, and a command-control infrastructure are in place to regulate flow and entry in sensitive zones.

Parking has been organized for 4,000 vehicles within Tirumala. Once full, a diversion protocol will guide pilgrims to alternate parking zones in Tirupati. Free meals, hot milk, refreshments, and medical assistance are available around the clock to support devotees throughout the festival.
