Tirupati, 29/Aug/2025 — An urgent safety advisory has been issued for devotees trekking to Tirumala via the renowned Alipiri and Srivari Mettu footpaths. Authorities have clarified that children under 12 years of age are not permitted on these trekking routes from 2:00 PM to 5:00 AM, allowing access only between 5:00 AM and 2:00 PM.
As shown in the accompanying image, bold text overlays caution pilgrims in both Telugu and English, emphasizing the restricted timings on the Alipiri and Srivarimettu footpaths. Visuals of the flight of steps and signage reinforce the gravity of this announcement.
Why the Restriction? Safety First
This directive is part of enhanced safety measures prompted by wildlife sightings—including leopards—along the trekking routes. In concerted effort with forest and police officials, additional security personnel, CCTV surveillance, and wildlife outposts have been deployed to monitor activity, especially during high-risk hours.
What Pilgrims Should Know
- Allowed Timing for Children Under 12: Only from 5:00 AM to 2:00 PM on both footpaths.
- After 2:00 PM: These routes are strictly off-limits to children under 12. Adult-only groups may be allowed in supervised batches post-2:00 PM, but children must not accompany them.
- Adult Access: Adults can trek beyond 2:00 PM under heightened security but must follow group supervision protocols and remain vigilant.
Planning Tips for Devotees
Families planning a spiritual climb with young children should start early in the morning to ensure completion before the 2 PM deadline. It’s advisable to check official TTD sources for updates, carry essential identification (like Aadhaar for token issuance), and heed on-site signage.
