With Ganesh Chaturthi approaching, Indian Railways has announced 380 Ganpati Special train services for 2025, marking the highest number ever introduced for the festival season. This follows a steady increase from the 305 services offered in 2023 to 358 in 2024. The expansion reflects the Railways’ efforts to meet the rising demand during the festive period.This effort, designed to ensure seamless and comfortable travel for lakhs of devotees, represents a significant rise from the 305 special trips operated in 2023 and 358 in 2024.
Zone-Wise Distribution of Special Trains
Central Railway will lead with 296 trips, addressing the surge in demand across Maharashtra and the Konkan belt.
Western Railway is operating 56 train services. This initiative significantly strengthens connectivity between Mumbai and the surrounding regions.
South Western Railway is deploying 22 trains, while Konkan Railway adds 6 trips.
Extensive Halts Along the Konkan Route Special trains traversing the Konkan region will make stops at numerous stations, including Kolad, Mangaon, Chiplun, Ratnagiri, Kankavali, Sawantwadi Road, Madgaon Junction, Karwar, Udupi, and Surathkal, among others—ensuring wide accessibility during the festival period.
Festival Timeline and Booking Info In 2025, Ganesh Chaturthi begins on August 27, 2025, and concludes with the Ganesh Visarjan on September 6, 2025. To plan ahead, special services began operating from August 11, with additional trains added progressively as demand increased.
Comprehensive schedules are now available on the IRCTC website, the RailOne app, and through computerized PRS counters, enabling travelers to plan their journeys effectively.
