Entry to Nandi Hall is Limited to ‘Most VIP’ Devotees
As part of the new arrangement, entry to the Nandi Hall—one of the temple’s main sanctums—has been restricted exclusively to ‘Most VIP’ visitors. General devotees can now have darshan only from behind barricades at the Ganesh Mandapam. The move, effective as of Sunday, aims to prevent overcrowding, particularly on weekends and festive days.
To maintain an orderly flow, the temple has introduced a ‘moving darshan’ system. General devotees will enter through Mahakal Lok or the Mansarovar Facility Centre, proceed via Mahakal Tunnel-1, and reach the Ganesh Mandapam for darshan before exiting through the Palki Hall and Ambulance Gate. Those entering from Gate No.1 or Gate No.4 will follow designated routes via Kartikeya Mandapam, Vishram Dham, and Sabha Mandap.
Revised Darshan Categories
- Most VIP (Protocol Arrangement): Entry via Shankh Dwar, access to Shikhar Darshan Terrace, and permission to enter Nandi Hall.
- General Devotees: Entry from Mahakal Lok or Mansarovar, darshan from barricaded zones, and exit through Palki Hall.
- Quick Darshan (₹250): Fast-track entry through Gate No.1 or Gate No.4, available via online booking on the temple’s official website.
Digital Facility for VIP Bookings
The Mahakaleshwar Temple Management Committee (SMTC) has launched a digital system allowing devotees to pay ₹250 online via UPI, net banking, or cards and receive an e-pass for quick entry.
These measures combine ancient devotion with modern management, ensuring a peaceful, efficient, and spiritually fulfilling experience for all pilgrims visiting Ujjain’s Mahakaleshwar Temple.
