According to announcements shared by the temple’s official social media handle “Divine Pathway,” the festivities begin on August 1, coinciding with Swathi Nakshatram, when the Utsava idol of Sri Govindaraja Swamy will be taken in a ceremonial procession to the renowned Ahobila Mutt. This symbolic journey reinforces the historic bond between the temple and local Vaishnavite institutions.
On August 6, the festival continues with the Tulasi Mahatyam, in which the deity will appear mounted on the Garuda Vahanam—the divine eagle—blessed to the devotees in a special morning procession. These processions are intended as deeply spiritual experiences, enhancing connection with the deity and reinforcing Vaishnavite traditions.
The Sri Govindaraja Swamy Temple, dating back to the 12th century and consecrated by Saint Ramanuja in 1130 AD, is administered by the Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD). It is known for daily rituals starting with Suprabhatam at 5 AM and concluding with Ekantha Seva around 9 PM, with darshan and sevas available all day.
Devotees flock to the temple in large numbers during festival times, and the August events are expected to draw significant crowds. While detailed timings for each procession have not yet been released, devout followers often line the streets in traditional attire, offering flowers and chanting hymns as the processional deity moves through designated temple streets.
TTD is anticipated to issue further information—including precise schedules, security measures, and crowd management plans—as the August events draw nearer. Pilgrims planning to attend are encouraged to monitor official channels and prepare well in advance.
