The Sri Ram Janmabhoomi Mandir in Ayodhya has announced a temporary closure of darshan for devotees on Sunday, September 7, 2025 (Bhadrapada Shukla Paksha Purnima) due to the upcoming lunar eclipse (Chandra Grahan). According to the official statement issued by Sri Champat Rai, General Secretary of Sri Ram Janmabhumi Tirth Kshetra, darshan will remain suspended from 12:30 PM onwards on the day of the eclipse.
In Hindu tradition, lunar eclipses are considered highly significant, and temples across the country often adjust rituals and schedules during this celestial event. The closure aligns with religious customs that restrict temple activities during the period of an eclipse.
To ensure the smooth resumption of rituals and darshan, the temple authorities have announced that on the following day, Monday, September 8, 2025, special morning rituals will be performed. The day will begin with Mangala Aarti and Shringar Aarti, after which devotees will be allowed darshan at the regular schedule.
The Ram Mandir, inaugurated earlier this year, has been witnessing a massive footfall of devotees and pilgrims from across India and abroad. With the temple emerging as a spiritual and cultural hub, managing the flow of visitors during special astronomical and religious events has become a key responsibility of the Sri
Ram Janmabhumi Tirth Kshetra Trust.
Temple authorities have also urged devotees to plan their visit accordingly, keeping in mind the closure timings on September 7. Arrangements are being made to accommodate the expected surge of devotees on September 8, when Darshan resumes with renewed grandeur.
The announcement highlights the temple’s adherence to age-old traditions while ensuring a seamless experience for the growing number of devotees visiting Ayodhya. With the city becoming a major pilgrimage destination, every religious event at Ram Mandir continues to attract nationwide attention.
