The towering idol, crafted under the guidance of celebrated sculptor Ram Sutar — renowned for designing the Statue of Unity — is being hailed as the tallest Lord Ram statue in the world.
What Makes the 77-ft Ram Statue Special
- Record-breaking height: At 77 feet, the statue is being promoted as the tallest representation of Lord Ram globally — a feat that instantly gives it landmark status.
- Masterful craftsmanship: The involvement of Ram Sutar — a sculptor with national acclaim — lends the statue exceptional artistry and attention to detail, combining devotion with sculpture-level grandeur.
- Spiritual and cultural significance: As part of the Mutt’s 550th-year celebrations, the statue is not just an idol but a symbol of heritage for the Gaud Saraswat Brahmin community, and a revival of ancient spiritual tradition.
- Pilgrimage & tourism landmark: The scale, location and associated festival are expected to draw 7,000–10,000 visitors daily, turning the site into a major religious-tourism destination.
The unveiling will mark the culmination of the 11-day Sardha Pancha Shatamanotsava festival at the Mutt, running from 27 November to 7 December 2025.
The ceremony will begin with the consecration (Prana Pratishtha) under the guidance of the Mutt’s pontiff, followed by the formal unveiling by PM Modi around 3:45 PM, who will also address devotees and dignitaries from across the country.
Beyond the statue, the celebration includes plans for a new Ramayana Theme Park and a Ram Museum — aimed at transforming the Mutt grounds into a comprehensive centre for cultural tourism and spiritual devotion.
Why This Moment Matters
As India witnesses what many are calling a “historic spiritual moment,” this unveiling is expected to make nationwide headlines. The 77-ft Lord Ram statue will not only reinforce heritage and faith for devotees but also spotlight Goa as a rising destination for religious tourism. The fusion of tradition, art, and public celebration could well shape the region’s cultural identity for years to come.
