The newly installed Reklaim Ace machine allows devotees and visitors to recycle plastic waste responsibly. Users are rewarded with ₹5 for each plastic item recycled, making the initiative both eco-conscious and incentivized. The machine features a digital interface with instructions and a slot for depositing plastic bottles and other plastic waste. The message “In the Service of Lord Venkateswara” displayed on the screen reinforces the spiritual significance of this green initiative.
Strategically placed near one of Tirumala’s iconic buildings, the machine symbolizes the fusion of tradition and technology. The backdrop of Tirumala’s golden-domed architecture underlines how modern solutions can coexist with age-old values to serve a greater cause.
This project aligns with the Swachh Bharat Abhiyan (Clean India Mission), a nationwide campaign aimed at improving sanitation and promoting cleanliness. By integrating smart recycling technology into the daily lives of pilgrims, TTD is setting a benchmark for other religious institutions across India.
The installation of Reklaim Ace is expected to significantly reduce plastic litter in and around the temple premises, enhancing the overall experience for devotees while preserving the sanctity of the site. It also serves as a powerful reminder that environmental responsibility is a shared duty, transcending religious and cultural boundaries.
TTD’s initiative is a commendable step towards a greener Tirumala, and it encourages every visitor to contribute to a cleaner, more sustainable future. As more such machines are deployed, the hope is that eco-friendly habits become a norm across pilgrimage centers nationwide.
