Touching down at Ayodhya’s Maharishi Valmiki International Airport in the morning, Prime Minister Tobgay and his wife received an official red-carpet reception from Uttar Pradesh’s Agriculture Minister Surya Pratap Shahi, along with other senior dignitaries.
During their stay, the Bhutanese leader performed aarti of Ram Lalla, offered flowers at the sanctum, and accepted prasad following the ritual. He also bowed three times before the deity, demonstrating deep reverence.
The visit included a guided tour of key sections of the temple complex, including Ram Darbar, the Parkota wall, Kuber Teela, and Saptmandapam. The Prime Minister expressed admiration for the temple’s intricate carvings and wall murals, pausing to photograph the striking artistry around the pillars and plinth.
Following the spiritual proceedings, the Ayodhya district administration hosted a traditional lunch along with cultural performances in honor of the visiting delegation.
This visit is part of PM Tobgay’s official four-day India tour from September 3 to 6, aimed at reinforcing cultural bonds between Bhutan and India.
In a related security development, the temple trust’s security committee proposed installing anti-drone systems to enhance protection of the shrine. The recommendation will be submitted to the state government for approval and funding.
