Ambubachi Mela 2026 Dates Announced
According to the temple’s Doloi community, the four-day Ambubachi Mela will commence on the night of June 22 and conclude at sunrise on June 26. The festival, held at the sacred Nilachal Hills shrine of Goddess Kamakhya, is considered one of the most powerful and significant spiritual events in the country.
New Route Introduced for Devotees
This year, authorities are introducing major crowd-management measures to handle the massive rush of pilgrims. In a significant move, devotees will be allowed to access the temple through a newly developed Pandu-side route in addition to the existing Nursery route. The new entry point is expected to ease congestion and improve movement around the temple complex during peak days of the mela.
Tight Security & CCTV Surveillance at Kamakhya Temple
Temple authorities and the district administration have already begun high-level planning for security, traffic control and accommodation arrangements. Advanced CCTV surveillance systems will also be installed across the temple premises to strengthen safety during the festival.
Sadhus Begin Arriving at Kamakhya Dham
Meanwhile, several sadhus and ascetics have already started arriving at Kamakhya Dham ahead of the grand annual congregation. Officials expect the number of visitors to rise sharply in the coming weeks as Ambubachi Mela 2026 approaches.
Why Ambubachi Mela Holds Special Spiritual Significance
Every year, the Ambubachi Mela transforms Guwahati into a major spiritual hub, attracting devotees, tantriks and seekers from different parts of India. The festival is deeply associated with the divine feminine power of Goddess Kamakhya and holds immense religious importance in Hindu tradition.
