Tuesday, Jun 17 – The preparation for the upcoming Ratha Yatra festival in Jagannath Puri are in full swing. The administration of Jagannath Puri is going to launch mobile app for the awareness of public and use Aritificial Intelligence powered cameras for monitoring of the crowd.
Jagannath Puri Ratha Yatra attracts at least 1 million devotees across the globe that too during the blazing summer. This year the crowd is anticipated to sore than the usual numbers, pushing the district administration to prepare themselves to ensure the safety of the pilgrims.
As per the Odisha Index, Odisha’s Director General of Police (DGP), YB Khurania, has announced the implementation of the Artificial Intelligence enabled CCTV cameras right from Konark to Uttara Chhak to monitor the crowd and detect any threat or unusual activity to take instant actions.
Hundreds of high-resolution cameras shall be installed in strategic locations transmitting the footage to the common commanding center where the footages will be processed using AI for any threat or unusual activity, which shall then coordinate with the multiple agencies to respond swiftly.
A mobile application is underway which shall provide real time information to the user about the parking, the routes, medical camps and essential information which shall help in the smooth crowd management.
Jagannath Puri Ratha Yatra shall be conducted on June 27 and the Bahuda Ratha Yatra shall be conducted on July 05. This festival is the largest religious gathering on the planet.
