
On Sunday, June 1, 2025, the Honourable Chief Minister of Maharashtra, Devendra Fadnavis, chaired a meeting at the Nashik collectorate office to announce the next Simhastha Kumbha Mela, which occurs once every 12 years at Nashik. The meeting was attended by many dignitaries, including 13 Akhadas, their spiritual leaders, and the temple administrators.
Simhastha Kumbha Mela is organized once every twelve years at Ram Kund in Nashik on the banks of River Godavari. Millions of pilgrims across the country and the world throng to Nashik for taking a holy bath in the River Godavari during the Simhastha Kumbha Mela.
The upcoming Simhastha Kumbha Mela at Nasik shall be celebrated from July 14, 2027 to September 25, 2027 with the following important Snana Dates.
First Shuddha Snana: August 26, 2027 (Shravana Shuddha Prathama Snana)
First Amruta Snana: August 29, 2027 (Shravana Purnima)
Second Amruta Snana: September 13, 2027 (Bhadrapada Amavasya)
Third Amruta Snana: September 18, 2027 (Rishi Panchami)
Last Snana: September 25, 2026 (Vamana Dwadashi)
A whopping 15 to 20 Crores pilgrims are expected to throng to the city of Nasik for the snana during the Simhastha Kumbha which shall be organized near the Trimbakeshwar Jyotirlinga and the Panchavati.
Chief Minister of Maharashtra, Devendra Fadnavis assured that the preparations were already in full swing. The tenders worth INR 4,000 crore have already been issued and an additional INR 2,000 crores are in the pipeline. Sewage treatment plant (STP), cleaning of the Godavari river and land acquisition for ‘Sadhugram’ are the major infrastructure projects to be taken up by the Government of Maharashtra.
Girish Mahajan, the Water Resources Minister, has stated that necessary steps will be taken to keep the Godavari river clean, with an emphasis on purifying the water.
The city administration is also getting ready to handle the crowd in an efficient manner to ensure the safety of the visiting pilgrims and avoid any stampede like situations arising out of heavy crowds during the Amruta Snana.
Where is the Simhastha Kumbha Mela in Nashik take place?
The Simhastha Kumbha Mela in Nashik shall be organized in two places:
- Trimbakeshwar Jyotirlinga
- Panchavati
The Chief Minister and the Akhadas have requested devotees to plan their visit for snana on the non-crowded days for easy and hazzle free snana.
Tirtha Yatra, Bengaluru shall be organizing the Simhastha Kumbha Mela Tours from July 14 to September 29, 2027. The tour dates shall be released soon.
