Bibah Panchami (also known as Vivah Panchami) fell on the fifth day (Panchami) of Shukla Paksha in the Hindu month of Margashirsha / Mangsir, usually in November or December.
Bibah Panchami 2025
- In 2025, Bibah/Vivah Panchami was celebrated on November 25, 2025.
- The tithi (Panchami) began on November 24, 2025, at 9:22 PM and ended on November 25, 2025, at 10:56 PM.
The chunri, sent in reverence to Goddess Sita (also called Mata Janaki), was first taken around the city of Janakpur in a grand “sobha yatra” (procession), drawing thousands of devotees, before being ceremonially offered at the temple.
Last year, the same trust had sent a 108‑metre-long chunri; this year’s 111 m length elevates the ritual, reflecting tradition and devotion.
The festival commemorates the divine wedding of Sita and Lord Ram — a historic event celebrated annually on the fifth day of the Margashirsha month. Janakpur, believed to be Sita’s birthplace, becomes a hub of religious fervour during this time.
This year’s chunri offering adds both symbolic reverence and aesthetic grandeur to the celebrations, reaffirming cultural and spiritual bonds across regions.
